ROTC History

Fayetteville State University founded it’s Army ROTC Department in 1989 through a cross-enrolled agreement with Campbell University. For the next decade Fayetteville State University cadets received ROTC curriculum instruction at Methodist University, until 1999 when it established its own independent program of instruction. This program strives to produce physically fit, technically and tactically sound, cadets of high character that are fully prepared to successfully lead in the United States Army. Fayetteville State University earned a myriad of academic and military honors since inception, and holds the distinction of producing the first Cadet Battalion Commander in Campbell Battalion History in 2005.

Today, cadets at Fayetteville State University serve as members of the Bronco Company. Based on the proximity to Fort Liberty, NC, Bronco Company maintains a high population of prior-service cadets, and routinely benefits from the available resources and expertise within minutes of campus. As a member of our team, you will experience an organization that fosters leader growth through an immersive curriculum including coursework, physical training, and leadership labs. Regardless of your life experiences, we are well-suited to help you realize and reach your full potential. In return, we ask for your commitment; you have what it takes!

Fayetteville State University’s Army ROTC Department is located in Taylor Social Science Building, Room 109. Stop by and discuss how you can turn your ambition into action. Bronco Pride!
