Swim Fitness

In this class, expect to be in the pool while we work our entire body with an occasional exercise outside the water. This class will be low impact and designed for all levels of swim and fitness ability. You should be comfortable being in the pool, but you do not need to be able to swim laps. I recommend wearing a comfortable swimsuit (or athletic outfit for the pool) and bringing a water bottle and a towel. Goggles and swim shoes are optional and putting your whole head underwater is not required. A fun fact about AquaFitness is you get all the benefits of exercising without all the sweating! AquaFitness is at the pool behind the convocation center- sign in at the desk and go through the locker rooms to get to the pool deck.

Yoga

All of our Yoga classes are designed to focus on stretching and breathing to ultimately relax and unwind our bodies and minds. Poses and flows are used to strengthen, stretch, and open the body and calm the mind. Each of our instructors adds their own twist to their Yoga classes but all are open to everyone from any fitness level or experience level.

Instructors: Nicole, Martha, Logan, Jaqueline, Cora-Ann

Nicole’s Class Focus: From sitting at a desk all day to carrying a bag full of books, we are hard on our bodies. With a constant flow of information, we also stretch our brains to the limits. We need to take time to help our bodies heal and our minds unwind. Cue Yoga! The classes will focus on poses and routines that will help you recover from stresses and attack the rest of the day with renewed energy. These classes will mix several styles of yoga and are suitable for all levels! While each session will be different, the focus will always be on rest and recovery with a ton of fun and laughs whenever possible.

Martha’s Class Focus: Christian Yoga Class – A Spiritual Practice – is a traditional Hatha yoga class. Each session will focus on the physical postures, including alignment and holding each asana to improve flexibility, strength, and concentration. This prepares you to relax the body and mind for deeper spiritual practices through savasana and meditation. This class will include postures, breathing, relaxation, and a Christian meditation.

Jaqueline’s Class Focus:  Intermediate Yoga will allow those who have an established yoga practice to delve deeper into some of Yoga’s poses, philosophies, and breath work. Safety is a priority, so taking appropriate options and levels is emphasized in this class, but allows the options for higher levels for more intermediate/advanced yogis, while also exposing beginners to a safe way to work up to a higher level of yoga.
