In accordance with Governor Cooper’s extension of Phase II, the Student Union Fitness Center and Carter Gym will remain closed but are tentatively scheduled to reopen Monday, September 14.

Recreation programs (Intramural Sports, Club Sports, Group X Classes, and Open Recreation events) will begin taking place the week of August 24. For more details, visit our Campus Recreation page.

Managed by Campus Recreation, the state-of-the-art fitness and wellness center includes spaces for workout and group fitness as well as personal training. The facility includes lockers, two single-user bathrooms with a shower in each, state-of-the-art cardio equipment, free weights and strength training equipment. Both stories of the fitness center feature a wall of glass windows for natural light and campus views.

  • Large free weight area
  • Four squat racks with lifting platforms
  • Weight machines
  • Large group fitness space that includes TRX and functional training spaces
  • Two showers

Second Floor

  • Cardio machines including Stairmaster, rowers, treadmills, bikes, and ellipticals
  • Turf and functional training area
  • Light free weight area
  • Stretching areas
