We have a number of resources and tools available to assist students in exploring options. We offer no pressure conversations and professional guidance to help students make informed decisions about their major and/or careers. Below are some of the resources we have available. To set up an exploration meeting, please fill out this brief intake form.
- TypeFocus is an online personality type and career assessment resource designed to help students understand their natural personality traits, interests, values and skills, and use that information to discover occupations best suited for them…and that is just the beginning! Campbell University students may complete the TypeFocus assessment at no cost. To schedule a TypeFocus assessment and advisement session, please fill out the intake form above.
- Occupational Outlook Handbook, produced by the Bureau of Labor Statistics, is a website that allows students to dive deeper into careers and occupations that are of interest to them. Students can learn more about: the day to day activities within an occupation; the education, training and certifications that are required or suggested for a position in this field; general pay and job outlook information; and more. If you would like to review this information with our staff, feel free to complete the intake form above.
- What Can I Do With This Major? is a comprehensive resource designed to help students connect majors to careers. Learn about typical career areas and types of employers that hire people with each major, as well as strategies to make you a more marketable candidate. Also included are links to related websites to further research majors and career fields. If you would like to review this information with our staff, please complete the intake form above.
- Road Trip Nation is an interactive site intended to help students explore career paths and seek inspiration from the stories of others. Users can create a “roadmap” that connects majors and related careers, access inspirational testimonials of seasoned professionals, and research salary, education, and job titles in various industries. Our staff is available to help you navigate this resource – just complete the intake form above.
Each semester we highlight a few academic departments in our “Dabble in A Discipline” series.
Our September “Dabble in a Discipline” will be on September 21st, 2021 at 11 AM.
Personal Mission Statement
The Office Academic Advising created a Personal Mission Statement resource utilized in academic advising sessions. This tool encourages students to consider what it is they care about and how they will impact the world through it.
