Ron Epps
Campbell University Libraries is proud to present to Ron Epps the 2020 Dean’s Award for Excellence in Teaching.
A member of the library faculty since 2003, Epps serves as a liaison for English, History, Military Science and Criminal Justice. In addendum to his busy liaison schedule, he coordinates all print resource purchasing for Wiggins Memorial Library and oversees the serials department for the library.
Epps demonstrates the Campbell spirit and serves as a friendly face that offers guidance and direction to Campbell students both on-campus and on line with his many video tutorials, guides, and his work with our incoming freshman classes. Students and faculty alike seek his guidance and knowledge, his work with library instruction keeps him busy as he actively engaged 35 classes with more than 560 students in the past academic year.
Epps’s commitment to student success and research support is clear by the generous words expressed by faculty and students. Campus faculty note that his enthusiasm and knowledge in library instruction mixed with his witty humor provides the students with encouragement and knowledge they need to succeed. Students request his assistance at the reference desk by name as they know he will guide them to the tools and resources they need. As they leave the desk, Epps calls out to students a cheer of “Happy Researching!”
In his commitment to collaboration and teamwork, Epps is willing to take on additional roles in the library. He participates in several teams in the library assisting with library outreach, marketing and collection development. Epps is the voice of the library on Facebook and the creative energy behind many library projects.
Epps holds a Master of Library Science from the University of North Carolina. at Chapel Hill and a Bachelor of Science degree in History from Virginia Tech. He and his family reside in Durham, North Carolina.
