Rural Philanthropic Analysis

Working to enhance the field of rural philanthropy.

Rural Case Studies

The Rural Philanthropic Analysis, in partnership with Campbell University, will publish four field studies representing a powerful collection of stories and lessons to inform the practice of rural philanthropy in Northeast Iowa, New Mexico, Eastern Washington and New England.

"The Rural Philanthropic Analysis Project has been a significant voice for national rural philanthropy; its challenges and opportunities. This is the first comprehensive look at the field of rural philanthropy conducted in over a decade. Our findings are energizing new national movements and structures to better serve rural communities and rural-serving foundations."

Our Central Aim

The central aim of the Rural Philanthropic Analysis (RPA) project is to better understand rural places and funding practices that are leading the way towards health improvement in rural regions across the country. We believe that this effort will help facilitate more – and more effective – investments by funders of all types and sizes. Support for the RPA is being provided in part by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation.*
