Who is Required to Report

All University employees, except Confidential Employees, are Mandatory Reporters. Mandatory Reporters must report incidents of potential sex-based discrimination, sexual harassment, and sexual violence to the Title IX Coordinator.

Faculty and Staff who receive disclosures of sex discrimination and sexual harm are encouraged to:

  • CARE & ASK: listen to students with empathy and asking questions about immediate health and safety.
  • INFORM: let students know employees have a duty to inform the Title IX Coordinator of sex discrimination and sexual harm, (even if students ask them not to tell anyone).
  • NEXT STEPS: assure students that the Title IX Coordinator will reach out to them to offer information about their rights, resources, and options to address the harm they experienced. Support is available without needing to report to police and without notification to the accused person.

Confidential Employees and Resources

Campbell community members who experience sex-based discrimination and violence may seek confidential guidance and resources through Counseling Services, the University Health Center, Campus Minister, and legal services through Campbell Law School Clinics. Confidential Employees under Title IX are mental health counselors, clergy, doctors, and attorneys who provide counseling/medical and legal advice; they are not required to report disclosures of sex discrimination and sexual harm in their confidential role.
