Dean’s Award for Excellence

Dr. Tim Shenk
Assistant Professor of Engineering

The 2023 School of Engineering Dean’s Excellence in Teaching Award recipient is Dr. Tim Shenk.

Dr. Tim Shenk is an assistant professor of engineering and teaches chemical engineering and mechanical engineering courses. He also mentors senior design teams each year who are working on chemical engineering-related projects. Outside of class, Dr. Shenk is faculty advisor for our Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers (SHPE) Student Chapter and often volunteers for recruiting and K12 outreach activities. He also hosts a student Bible study at his home. He was recently named a national KEEN Faculty Fellow.

Dr. Shenk teaches some of the most challenging courses in the engineering curriculum, including Thermodynamics, Heat Transport, Heat Transfer, and Unit Operations. He diligently works to continuously improve his teaching, having attended a number of workshops to learn new skills. He has used these experiences to introduce new activities and new projects into his classes. He works hard to help students apply theory to reality.

Dr. Shenk earned his B.S. in Chemical Engineering from Oregon State University, a master’s in divinity from Denver Seminary and an M.S. in Chemical Engineering from Colorado School of Mines, and a Ph.D. in Chemical and Biological Engineering from South Dakota School of Mines and Technology.

Campbell University School of Engineering is pleased to recognize Dr. Tim Shenk for his contributions.
