Mr. Siu-Ki Wong, head of technical services and systems at Wiggins Memorial Library, is the recipient of the 2022 Dean’s Award for Excellence for the Campbell University Libraries.
A member of the library faculty since 2001, Mr. Wong has excelled in his work as administrator of the library system, proxy server, web server and library network. His work in technical services is the “backbone” of the library, making it possible for patrons to access research in every field taught at Campbell University.
For 20 years, Siu-Ki Wong has served humbly and effectively, managing web applications as well as offering leadership to his Technical Services team. He is responsible for leading several library website redesigns, one of which will be launched this fall, and has been the project manager for two significant library system migrations. Mr. Wong is dedicated to sharing his knowledge with colleagues at the institution and beyond. He served on the N.C. LIVE Digital Services Advisory Committee (DSAC) from 2017-2020 and has served the N.C. LIVE Website Advisory Committee (WAC) for the past two years.
Projects launched under Mr. Wong’s leadership are the Wiggins Library Digital Archives, the transition from federated searching to discovery services and the creation of CU FIND, a faculty profile system showcasing Campbell University’s faculty research. Mr. Wong’s understanding of computer programming and information science has led to tremendous progress at Campbell Libraries over the past twenty years.
Siu-Ki Wong earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Physics and a Post-Graduate Certificate in Education from the University of Hong Kong, as well as a Master of Science in Information Science from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Mr. Wong also pursued PhD studies in Information Science at UNC Chapel Hill. He and his wife Boree Kwok reside in Buies Creek. They have two grown children and recently welcomed a son-in-law into the family.
