College of Pharmacy & Health Sciences | Dr. Andrew Muzyk


From Dr. Michael L. Adams, dean and professor, College of Pharmacy & Health Sciences: 

Dr. Andrew Muzyk received his Doctor of Pharmacy from Mercer University Southern School of Pharmacy. Following graduation, he completed an ASHP-accredited Pharmacy Practice Residency at OCH Regional Medical Center in Alabama. Dr. Muzyk then completed an ASHP-accredited Specialty Residency in Psychiatry at UNC Hospitals and UNC School of Pharmacy.

Dr. Muzyk joined the Campbell faculty in 2007 as an assistant professor and was promoted to associate professor in October 2014. He completed the University of Michigan Masters of Health Professions Education degree in 2018. 

During his 15-year tenure at Campbell, Dr. Muzyk has been involved in numerous didactic courses in the Pharmacy, Doctor of Physical Therapy, Physician Assistant and Masters of Clinical Research programs. He currently serves as a preceptor to fourth-year student pharmacists for internal medicine and psychiatry. Dr. Muzyk has made an enormous impact on student pharmacists throughout his teaching, devoted countless service hours, and gained national and local recognition as an expert in psychiatric pharmacotherapy. Dr. Muzyk is the course director for 3 courses in the doctor of pharmacy program. He also lectures in multiple courses in the pharmacy program, primarily the rigorous Therapeutic Drug Monitoring and Therapeutics required courses in the legacy curriculum and now throughout the new integrated pharmacotherapy and elective courses in the revised curriculum. 

Dr. Muzyk also excels in the area of clinical teaching as well. He precepts fourth-year student pharmacists and pharmacy residents on his advanced pharmacy practice experience (AAPE) in psychiatry and two-month AAPE in internal medicine. On an annual basis, Dr. Muzyk precepts between 16-18 fourth-year Doctor of Pharmacy students at his practice site, Duke University Hospital. Student evaluations describe him as enthusiastic, passionate and knowledgeable. 

Dr. Muzyk is an extraordinary teacher and an outstanding role model to faculty and students. He has demonstrated a successful academic teaching career as noted by his numerous accomplishments. He is an exemplary example of the qualities recognized by the Dean’s Award for Excellence in Teaching for the College of Pharmacy & Health Sciences.
