Above all, Dr. Dague has consistently enhanced his students’ academic and personal growth. He was one of the most adaptable professors within AOE when COVID hit, pivoting formats and approaches with energy and enthusiasm. Dr. Dague’s course survey results are exceptional across all modalities and course subjects, and he has demonstrated an outstanding commitment to teaching. He consistently received high scores even when his grade distributions did not favor a high percentage of A’s, indicating a balance of rigor and effective teaching methods.

Students have praised Dr. Dague’s teaching methods, describing him as engaging, professional, and highly competent. Dr. Dague’s approach to teaching reflects his commitment to lifelong learning, which sets a positive example for his students. He allows students to select research topics, promoting a sense of ownership and personal investment in their education.

Some highlights of quotes from the students are:

  • (About his teaching methods and allowing selection of research topics): Dr. Dague however embraces and leans into this asymmetry and uses it as a means to not only better his students but himself in the process. He lives the idea that one is never done learning and I can think of no better example for a student to see than that.
  • Best instructor I’ve had while at Campbell University. Highly competent and professional.
(Regarding the favorite thing about the class): Getting to learn more about history and having an instructor that is engaged and wants to see his students succeed.

Dr. Dague is a valuable asset to the AOE community, having taught at all AOE campuses except for SCI students. Dr. Dague’s expertise in military history and education courses and skill teaching in various modalities makes him a “utility player” among AOE instructors. He is flexible, adaptable, and professional, never turning down a teaching opportunity to assist his students.

Adult and Online Education is lucky and honored to have many fine professionals working among our adjunct faculty ranks. I am delighted to award Dr. Christopher Dague the AOE Dean’s Award for Excellence. His contributions to Campbell University and Adult and Online Education are immeasurable, and his dedication to his students’ success is truly admirable.
