School of Engineering | Dr. Allison Lee

From Dr. Jenna Carpenter, founding dean of the School of Engineering:

The 2022 School of Engineering Dean’s Excellence in Teaching Award recipient is Dr. Allison Lee.

Dr. Allison Lee is an assistant professor of engineering and teaches engineering science courses such as thermodynamics and fluid mechanics. She has also developed a course on gas turbines and jet engines. Outside of class, Dr. Lee is faculty advisor for our American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) Student Chapter and often volunteers for recruiting and K-12 outreach activities.

Dr. Lee teaches some of the most challenging courses in the engineering curriculum, as well as a popular senior mechanical engineering elective in gas turbines and jet engines. Her courses are engaging. Her skills in course organization, communication, and structure are a model for other faculty. Her patience with students, approachability, success at encouraging student questions, and ability to explain difficult concepts in multiple ways are also keys to her success in the classroom. Students value her level of preparation, ability to maximize the use of class time, and her sense of humor. In particular, they note how much she cares about them and her effectiveness in adapting her classes to online and hybrid formats during the pandemic.

Dr. Lee earned her B.S. and Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from Brigham Young University.

Campbell University School of Engineering is pleased to recognize Dr. Allison Lee for her contributions.
