Updated (6-26-20) COVID-19 Update: Until further notice the Aquatic Center will remain closed to the public. Keith Hill’s Pool is open and please reference this website for the operational guidelines that will lead you to the marketplace when you accept the guidelines to buy a membership. Only members/CU Students will be allowed to use the facility. There will not be any “private parties” scheduled for the 2020 season. Swim School for this summer is cancelled. Lifeguard Training will be offered as an online blended format and is still available. As sufficient students complete the online learning skill sessions are being scheduled on weekends. If there are any general questions, interest in the current Lifeguard Training opportunity, Membership questions and/or you do not receive your Swim School refund please contact Montz Burckhardt at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Please note: The Lifeguard course we offer is for training those who wish to be lifeguards at swimming pools only.
Lifeguard Training/CPR Cost
The cost for the Lifeguard Training course is $250 per participant. The fee includes First-Aid course and a CPR course as well as a lifeguard manual. Classes will be filled on a first-come, first-serve basis. Our lifeguarding program will help students develop skills that will be of value to future employers. Please be aware that there are several prerequisites (listed below) that must be met on the first day in order to continue in the program. Students should practice these skills as needed before beginning the class, as there are no refunds given upon the start of the class.
CPR for the Professional Rescuer recertification is $80. CPR recertification participants are expected to provide their own rescue mask. Register early to ensure your choice of classes.
- Be at least 15 years old.
- Swim 300 yards continuously (100 free, 100 breaststroke, 100 either free or breaststroke)
- Swim 20 yards using front crawl or breast stroke; surface dive to a depth of 7-10 feet; bring a 10-pound diving brick to the surface; and swim back with the brick holding it with both hands while keeping one’s face above water (timed 1:40)
