Installation Instruction for Adobe Reader Many documents posted on the web are posted in a form that is protected to prevent misuse or defacement. One such method is the usage of the PDF. To read PDF documents, you will need a program to read these files. Adobe produces Adobe Reader, the main software for reading PDFs.
Steps in this Guide 1-3. Download the installation file. 4-9. Setup and installation.
Detailed Instructions 1. After clicking the link on the Helpdesk website, a new window will open, taking you to the Adobe Reader download page. You will be given the choice of two pieces of add on software in addition to Adobe Reader. For these instructions, we will not be installing the add on software. When you are ready, click Download.
2. The page will change and a download box will open. Click Run.
3. After the file downloads, a security warning will show. Click Run.
4. At this point, there is nothing to do but wait while the installation prepares.
5. When the setup screen loads, click Next.
6. The screen will change slightly, informing you that it is going to install Adobe Reader on your system. Click Next.
7. Next, you will need to choose a destination for the installation. We recommend using the default. Click Next.
8. At this point, the program will give you the option of going back to make changes to your selections or continue on and install. Click Install.
9. As the installation progresses, you will see a window with a sliding green bar. When the bar fills, the installation will complete and change to say that you have successfully completed the installation of Adobe Reader. Click Finish.
