Anti-Virus Information

All students connecting to any part of the Campbell University network on any campus are required to maintain a current, subscription-based, automatically updated anti-virus solution on their computer.

The University offers Sophos Antivirus to all main-campus students free of charge and it is available (at no additional cost to the student) for download here.  (These pages are protected.  Please check your Welcome Message in your Campbell email for username and password information.  This username and password is NOT related to your webAccess or Email account.)

Note: Please be sure to read the instructions for installation before beginning, to make sure that you have all of the information you need to proceed before beginning.  Most of the calls we receive about malfunctioning anti-virus programs are because students did not read and follow these instructions.

Note: Older machines should not use Sophos Anti-Virus.  If you have less than 512 Megs of RAM, Sophos is not appropriate for your machine.  We recommend AVG anti-virus for older machines.  There is a free version available here.

Note: We also have versions of Sophos Anti-virus for Mac and Linux systems.  They are available here.

Note: Do not install more than one anti-virus program on your machine at the same time.  Generally speaking, they do not play well together.
