Scholarship Information

Army ROTC awards hundreds of scholarships, available at over 600 schools. Army ROTC scholarships pay tuition and required fees, and can be worth as much as $70,000 or more. They're awarded on merit -- like academic achievements, extracurricular activities, and personal interviews. Scholarship winners receive a stipend ($250 freshman, $300 sophomore, $350 junior, $400 senior) for each academic month plus an allowance for books and other educational items. If you're a non-scholarship student, you can still receive the stipend as a contracted cadet during your last two years. If you're selected to receive a scholarship, you will have a commitment to the Army after completing the program. You can fulfill it by either serving part time in the Army National Guard or Army Reserve, or full time on active duty.

Selected Reserve Montgomery GI Bill

 

The total amount of the Selected Reserve Montgomery GI bill is $9,936.00. A full-time student's monthly payment is $276.00/month for 36 months; a three-quarter time student's monthly payment is $207.00/month for 48 months; and a half-time student's monthly payment is $138.00/month for 72 months.

A student must complete Basic Training and Advanced Individual Training prior to receiving this money for college. This amount of money goes directly to the student.

Tuition Assistance

A student can receive tuition assistance of 75% up to $3,500 a year once they have completed Basic Training and the money is paid directly to the school.

Student Loan Repayment

An application may qualify for $10,000/$20,000 student loan repayment depending on the job he/she qualifies and chooses. This percentage is paid a year after you complete AIT and every year thereafter, until the money is depleted. The money is paid directly to the financial institution. In order to qualify, you must score a 50 or higher.

Enlistment Bonus

You may qualify for an enlistment bonus of $3000/$5000/$8000.

Promotions

If you have 1 year of JROTC = PV2
If you have 3 years of JROTC = The ROTC Instructor can recommend you come in as a PFC
If you have had 1 year of SROTC = PFC
24 Semester hours or 36 quarter hours = PV2
48 Semester hours or 72 quarter hours = PFC
4 Years of college with a degree = SFC or you could come in as an officer.
