MEMORANDUM FOR CAMPBELL BATTALION CADRE AND CADETS
SUBJECT: Policy Letter #10, Class, Lab, Physical Training (P.T.), and Field Training Exercise (FTX) Attendance
1. Class attendance will be conducted at a minimum IAW the college or university’s attendance policy concerning class attendance. No student will receive credit for any course in which he or she fails to meet the college or university’s required attendance standard. Cadre will include a clear statement of their absence policy in the syllabus for each course. Students are expected to coordinate with the instructor prior to any absence if possible. Excused absences include, but are not limited to, personal and family emergencies, inclement weather conditions, bona fide medical needs, and officially approved representation of the college or university such as athletics, student congress and assessment testing. Absences for any other reason will be considered unexcused. Consistent violations of the attendance policy will be immediately brought to the attention of the battalion commander.
2. Physical Training, Labs, Joint Labs and Field Training Exercises are mandatory for all contracted cadets and Cadets receiving any type of ROTC scholarship. All cadets required to attend any of these events are expected to coordinate with the Cadre and Cadet chain of command prior to any absence. The following criteria apply to time, method of notification, endorsement/approval authority, and results of noncompliance:
3. Unexpected absences will be brought to the Cadre’s attention and conveyed to the Cadet Chain of Command as soon as possible following the absence. Violations of attendance for required events may result in punitive action and could possibly result in removal from the program and/or loss of scholarship.
4. Although attendance is not mandatory for all Cadets, it is highly encouraged for professional and personal development. Attending these events and functions can only benefit one as a leader in any aspect of life and is not limited to military service.
