Summer registration begins for extended campus students and seniors (98+ completed semester hours) on April 29th and 30th. All other students will be able to register beginning May 1st.

Part of what makes online learning great is that you can upload assignments from your Android, iPhone, or Blackberry smartphone. All three of these devices have FREE scanning applications that you can download to your specific device and these applications will allow you to scan them and upload them to Blackboard or send through your email account.

For this weeks blog post, I'd like to dispel some of the biggest myths that are out there regarding online education. Distance education actually traces its roots back to the mid-1800s when correspondence courses were used to help educate disperse groups of people throughout the country. However, the invention of the Internet led to a rapid influx of online learning at the higher education level.

Course delivery via the web began in 1994 and has exploded ever since. There has been a steady growth in popularity of online education to the point that by the fall of 2010, almost one-third of post secondary students in the United States were taking at least one course online. By the end of this past year, 2012, many higher education programs, and big ones at that (MIT, Stanford, and Harvard), have thrown loads of resources, investments, and presidential backing behind a new concept called Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs).
