Law Library receives $133,400 grant to increase title collection
The Law Library of the Norman Adrian Wiggins School of
Law at Campbell University is pleased to announce the receipt of a $133,400
grant from the Felburn Foundation that will pay for the addition of The Making
of Modern Law to the Library’s permanent collection.
The Making of Modern Law brings together nearly 10
million pages of legal history from America and Britain. This archive—from one
of the most important periods of legal development—is the world's most
comprehensive full-text collection of Anglo-American legal treatises anywhere.
It allows for full text searching of more than 21,000 works from casebooks,
local practice manuals, form books, works for lay readers, pamphlets, letters,
speeches, and more.
“The addition of The Making of Modern Law is
significant for students and faculty within the Campbell University School of
Law. This electronic collection will greatly enhance scholarly research from
among thousands of foundational U.S. and British legal documents,” said Melissa
Essary, dean of the Campbell School of Law. “We are deeply grateful to the
Felburn Foundation for their investment in this outstanding resource.”
This significant electronic collection will more than
double the size of the existing title count at the Campbell University School of
Law. The collection will be made available to all faculty and students enrolled
at the University.
The improvement of libraries is one of the major focus
areas of the Felburn Foundation. This is the third major gift to the libraries
at Campbell University.
