Pickard receives Dean’s Award for Teaching Excellence
Col. Bill Pickard, associate professor and director of Student Affairs for the
Campbell University School of Pharmacy, has received the Dean’s Award for
Teaching Excellence for 2006-2007.
Pickard earned a Bachelor of Science degree in pharmacy
from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (UNC) in 1975, and a Master
of Pharmacy Practice from UNC in 1993. In addition to his academic duties,
Pickard is a colonel in the United States Army Reserve Medical Corps.
“In the relatively short time he has been at Campbell,
Colonel Pickard has done a wonderful job,” said Dr. Ronald Maddox, dean of the
School of Pharmacy. “Educational experiences come in many forms and Colonel
Pickard has demonstrated his ability to have a tremendous influence on students’
education in many ways. He is always available to advise and counsel students,
being an extremely good listener as well as an experienced pharmacist and
clinical researcher, and he is able to introduce students to a number of world
experts he has met during his career.”
Pickard’s formal classroom teaching, including his new
Bioterrorism course, has been very well received by students, Maddox added.
Pickard has already established himself as a major contributor in education and
training within the department of Clinical Research and the School of Pharmacy.
