Rodgers receives Dean’s Excellence in Teaching award
Daniel M. Rodgers, assistant professor of art at Campbell University, received
the 2007 Dean’s award for Excellence in Teaching for the College of Arts and
Sciences.
Rodgers earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Art from
Bridgewater College and a Master of Fine Arts degree from the Savannah College
of Art and Design. He joined the College of Arts and Sciences faculty in 2003.
Rodgers and his wife Cyndi reside in Buies Creek with their two sons, Levi and
Benjamin.
As a gifted painter and an accomplished computer
designer, Danny has had a profoundly positive impact on graphic design students
at Campbell University.
“With a clear passion for teaching excellence, Rodgers
has transformed the graphic design major,” said Dr. Mark Hammond, dean of the
College of Arts and Sciences. “His protégés have found numerous successes as
graphic artists in the public and private sectors. Evidence of his nurturing and
natural talents is obvious in their works, which are routinely displayed in the
Sauls Art Gallery.”
Rodger’s influence, however, extends well beyond his
graphic design students. He is highly effective in promoting collaboration and
the inclusion of graphic design artwork among other departments of the
University, Hammond added. For example, the inspiring work of his students has
had a profound impact on the promotion and image of many of the theatrical
productions.
Rodgers is a visible and tireless supporter of the
students at Campbell University. He continually uses his extraordinary abilities
as an artist, a teacher, a mentor, a scholar and a Christian to the benefit of
the Campbell students.
