Campbell Graduates 80 students from the Camp Lejeune Program
As Pomp and Circumstance was played by the Trexler Middle School band, graduates
clad in caps and gowns walked down the aisle in the Base Theatre. On June 1,
2007, Campbell University’s Camp Lejeune program graduated 80 students.
“I love the professors. They were so knowledgeable and
experienced,” said Kendra Gregg, who received her BS in social science/history.
“I am finally finished and ready to start my career.”
Major General Robert C. Dickerson, Commanding General,
Marine Corps, Installations East, was the guest speaker.
“Your sacrifice will not go unnoticed,” said Dickerson.
He gave credit to the graduates for completing their
degrees, especially since some of them had to add extra years of study because
of their deployment overseas. He ended his speech with a “hoorah” and the crowd
cheered in appreciation.
Tom Harris, associate dean of the extended campuses, said, “I’m proud of these
students that are able to accomplish their goal. Completing a bachelor’s degree
in an environment where there are so many competing demands- time, war and
families. It is amazing they find time and have the commitment.”
