Campbell to offer 5th annual Children’s Choir Camp
Campbell
University’s Children’s Choir Camp is a five-day excursion into music for
children, grades 3-6. Sponsored by the Cape Fear Friends of the Fine Arts and
the Campbell University Music Department, the camp is held June 6-10, from 9
a.m. until 5 p.m. at the Rogers Fine Arts Center on the Campbell campus.
Participants will receive instruction in vocal and
choral technique, music theory, Orff instruments and creative movement from
seasoned members of the Campbell Music Department and the Harnett County
Schools. An evening concert featuring the 2005 camp choir will also highlight
the week.
“The Children’s Choir Camp is an excellent way to
discover and nurture a child’s musical gifts,” said Dr. Phillip Morrow,
associate professor of music and camp director. “The children will also enjoy
large and small group activity each day plus swimming and other recreational
activities.”
Children who participate are required to be involved
in their school music program and have a teacher recommendation. Campers
recommended by their music teachers automatically qualify for a $60 scholarship
from the Cape Fear Friends of the Fine Arts organization. The remaining cost is
$120 for a total cost of $180 per camper.
