Campbell Hosts Moonlit Serenade Formal in Durham
This year’s formal will take a trip back in time to the
days of old Hollywood glamour on Saturday, April 1, at the Millennium Hotel in
Durham starting at 8:30 p.m. Campbell University’s Student Government
Association’s Junior Class has been hard at work over the past few months to
organize the event.
“We have learned how to pinch our pennies and come up
with creative ideas,” Junior Class President Miketa Brinston said.
Offering the students a variety of music, two separate
floors will be designated to provide entertainment for dancing. “Charlie Chiklis
and the Moonlighters” will be performing on the second floor ballroom for those
who like classical jazz. The third floor will feature Joe Bunn DJ Company who
will be playing contemporary dance hits.
Carolina Media Star based out of Fayetteville will be
available to take pictures during the night. The pictures come in a variety of
packages ranging from $20 to $45.
Beverages and desserts, including a fruit display with
chocolate fondue, will be catered by Millennium Hotel. This year’s florist is
the Purple Poppy out of Wake Forest.
“They have come up with creative ideas like top hats
and film canisters,” Junior Class Representative Heather Connor said. “They have
really surprised us and the evening is going to be gorgeous.”
Brinston said there might be a few surprises. “The
hotel will be decorated full out in Hollywood glamour with classic floral
arrangements,” Brinston said. “You may even see some of your favorite stars or
actors there.”
The dress if formal attire and the directions to the
Millennium Hotel may be picked up at the Student Center.
