Religion department lecture to feature Glen Stassen
Campbell University is honored to present Glen Stassen
as this year’s annual Religion department lecture speaker. Stassen will deliver
a lecture titled “The New Just Peacemaking Ethics-A Better Answer for Terrorism”
Thursday Feb. 9, at 7p.m. in Memorial Baptist Church in Buies Creek. The lecture
is free and open to the public.
Stassen hails from Fuller Theological Seminary, where
he currently serves as a Professor of Christian Ethics. He graduated from the
University of Virginia and obtained a Ph.D at Duke University. Adding to his
accomplishments, Stassen has written the book “Just Peacemaking: Transforming
Initiatives for Justice and Peace,” and more recently has co-authored a book
with David P. Gushee, titled “Kingdom Ethics: Following Jesus in Contemporary
Context.” The Feb.9 religion department lecture will seek to explore the concept
of “Just War” and offer peaceable solutions to the ongoing hostility of
terrorism.
