Edwards Wins Poster Design for “Blood Relations”
The gruesome and mysterious Lizzie Borden murders are the focus of the play,
“Blood Relations,” presented by Campbell University’s Theatre Arts Department.
In her poster design, senior graphic design major Lark Hallock Edwards managed
to capture the horror of the event without giving away play secrets or
sacrificing the beauty of her design. Edwards competed against 15 other art
students to win the poster competition for the play.
“She is quite a stylist,” said graphic design professor
Daniel Rodgers. “Her work will never have any problem looking like anyone
else’s. She is quite talented.”
Rodgers went on to predict that Edward’s strong work ethic and nose for business
will serve her well professionally. “Visual communication, which is what graphic
design is, is not like painting and sculpting,” Rodgers said. “Problem-solving
is basically what we do.”
Computer programs such as PhotoShop and Adobe Design
are the paintbrushes and pallet knives of the graphic design artist, Rodgers
explained. “Graphic design is the only art form that comes to you; you don’t
have to go to it.”
Although Edwards loves to paint, she will be looking
for a job in the graphic design field when she graduates this May. “I am really
open to anything-advertising, public relations, business. I just want to work in
my field,” she said.
While at Campbell Edwards, who is from Fredericksburg,
VA, has been active in Campus Crusade for Christ and Epsilon Pi Eta honor
society. She is married to Campbell law student Matthew Edwards, who also
graduates in May.
