Quinn is Honored with Baptist Heritage Award
Retired businessman and farmer, Milford Quinn, of Warsaw, N.C., was honored
Wednesday, April 6, by the North Carolina Baptist Foundation, an agency of the
Baptist State Convention which provides trust services for individuals and
institutions related to extending stewardship and supporting Christian work. The
Baptist Heritage Award is given annually to those individuals whose lives are
examples of Christian service.
The architect of two businesses, Quinn owned and
operated Quinn Wholesale Company of Warsaw and continues to operate Quinn Farms,
a farm in Duplin County devoted to tobacco, corn, soybeans and livestock. He is
a former director of Carroll’s Foods, Inc., and one of the primary organizers of
the Independent Grocers of America (IGA).
An active member of his community, Quinn served
as chairman of the Duplin County Development Commission and is a former member
of the Warsaw Area Chamber of Commerce. He served on the board of advisors for
the Sarah W. Stedman Center for Nutritional Studies at Duke University Hospital
and is a veteran of over 20 years on the Campbell University Board of Trustees.
Quinn was also a member of the local board of directors for United Carolina Bank
(UCB) and Branch Banking & Trust (BB&T). His contributions to Christian higher
education through scholarships and service earned Quinn two of Campbell’s most
distinguished awards-the Algernon Sydney Sullivan Award and the Distinguished
Alumnus Award. Quinn also received an honorary Doctor of Laws degree from
Campbell in 1999. In 1996, he was given the Distinguished Citizen Award by the
Duplin and Sampson Counties Boy Scouts of America.
Quinn is an active member of the Warsaw Baptist Church,
where he has served on the Board of Deacons for many years and performed
numerous other responsibilities. He is married to the former Reba Sanderson of
Beulaville, NC. They are the parents of four children.
