Campbell Presents “Blood Relations”
“Lizzie Borden took an axe, and gave her mother 40
whacks, when she saw what she had done, she gave her father 41.” Campbell
University’s Theatre Arts Department will present “Blood Relations,” a play that
depicts the gruesome and mysterious events surrounding the alleged Lizzie Borden
murders. Performances are scheduled for April 8-9 and April 14-16, at 8 p.m. in
Ellis Theatre of the Rogers Fine Arts Center. Tickets are $7, general admission,
and $3 for Campbell students and faculty.
Written by Sharon Pollock, “Blood Relations” has
stirred audiences nationwide since its debut in 1980. Although never convicted
of the crime, Lizzie Borden was charged with the murder of her father and
stepmother. The play showcases the trial of Lizzie Borden and the Victorian
mystery surrounding it.
“Blood Relations” is directed by Professor Georgia Martin.
Staring as Lizzie Borden are Karrie Box, of Lillington, NC, and Amber Wynn, of
Chesapeake, VA. Other cast members include Gretchen Ross, of Greenville, NC;
Matt Weber, of Fredericksburg, VA; Zach Roberts, of Raleigh, NC; Melissa Cross,
of Hapatcong, NJ; Jeff Enoch, of Apex, NC; and Ryan Nazionale of Columbia, SC.
