Laurinburg Pastor to Deliver Message at Easter Service
Doctor Luther D. Kimrey, pastor of the First Baptist
Church of Laurinburg, NC, will deliver the message at Campbell University’s
annual Easter Worship Service, Wednesday, March 23, at 11 a.m. in Scott Concert
Hall of the Rogers Fine Arts Center. The public is invited.
Kimrey graduated from Wake Forest University in 1960
with a bachelor’s degree in biology. He spent the first 33 years of his career
working in the private sector. From 1969-1987, Kimrey was vice president of
sales and marketing for Rutland Plastics. He later became a personal financial
planner, specializing in life insurance and investment products. He left the
financial industry in 1993 to enter the seminary, and earned both Master of
Divinity and Doctor of Ministry degrees from Baptist Theological Seminary at
Richmond (BTSR), VA. From 1996-2001, Kimrey was pastor of Warsaw Baptist Church
in Warsaw, VA. He became pastor of First Baptist Church of Laurinburg in 2002.
“God’s call for me to go to Baptist Theological
Seminary at Richmond was just that: go!” Kimrey said. “During the first two
years of study, there was no indication of a call to pastoral ministry. That
call came during the third year, and it was a clear as the call to go to
seminary.”
Kimrey serves on the Board of Ministers for both
Campbell and Wingate universities. He is a Rotarian and member of the boards of
Childcare Directions and Project Jubilee. He is also active in the Scotland
County Ministerial Association and the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship of North
Carolina.
