Senior Art Exhibition to Open at Campbell
Campbell University’s Senior Art Exhibition will be on
display March 21-April 11, in the E.P. Sauls Gallery of the Taylor Bott Rogers
Fine Arts Building. Admission is free and open to the public.
“The exhibition is representative of the work done in
the students’ studio classes over the course of their college career,” said
Larkin Tysor, associate professor of art. “From matting and displaying their
works to sending out invitations, Senior Exhibition is solely the students’
undertaking.”
Seniors Kathy Schrum, of Hubert, NC, and Scott Shamblee,
of Charleston, SC, will exhibit between 50 and 60 pieces of artwork, including
paintings, drawings, and sculptures. The works are representative of a myriad of
medium-paint, pencil, clay, and paper. The exhibit is meant to feature a
cohesive body of work in the students’ chosen area of concentration based on
work completed at Campbell. The experience also teaches students to assemble and
install their own exhibitions in a self-directed manner.
The E.P. Sauls Gallery is open from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
The Campbell University Fine Arts Department offers a
Bachelor of Arts degree with majors in Studio Art and Graphic Design. Minors in
Studio Art and Graphic Design are also offered. Each major is structured to
prepare the student for the many and varied careers open to artists. The
Department offers 30 courses, including drawing, painting, ceramics,
printmaking, art history, design, and introduction to photography.
