Williams Elected to Presidential Board of Advisors
Brunswick County resident, Melba L. Williams, of Shallotte, NC, has been elected
to Campbell University’s Presidential Board of Advisors. Williams (’71) is a
member of the second trust management class to graduate from Campbell.
The veteran of a long and distinguished banking career,
Williams spent 16 years at Waccamaw Bank and Trust Company in Whiteville, NC,
where she worked her way up to the position of trust officer. She retired from
banking as a vice president and trust officer at Central Carolina Bank.
Williams has served several terms as a member of
Campbell University’s Alumni Board of Directors and established the Henry E. and
Melba L. Williams Scholarship to benefit worthy students who are pursuing a
career in business administration. Williams received the university’s Alumni
Service Award, presented to individuals who have made significant contributions
to the university and to the community at Campbell’s annual
Founder’s Day celebration in 2005.
Williams is a member of Shallotte Presbyterian Church,
where she currently serves on the Worship and Service Committee. She enjoys
landscaping, plants, cooking, and bridge.
