Woodlief Named Associate Professor at Campbell
Alan
Woodlief, of Campbell’s Norman Adrian Wiggins School of Law, has been promoted
to associate professor. Woodlief, who also serves as associate dean of
Admissions, joined the law school faculty in 1995.
A Campbell law alumnus, Woodlief received his Juris Doctor in 1994, graduating
magna cum laude. He received a bachelor’s degree in journalism and mass
communication from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
Woodlief is the recipient of several academic honors, including being named to
the Order of Barristers, Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society, and “Who’s Who in American
Colleges and Universities.” He also received the Fred O. Dennis Award for
outstanding achievement.
As a law student at Campbell, Woodlief served as articles editor for the
“Campbell Law Review” and as 4th Circuit Court editor for the “Campbell Law
Observer.” He was a quarterfinalist in the John Marshall Moot Court Competition.
Woodlief has also served as a Moot Court coach and as chairman of the Honors and
Awards Committee and the Scholarship Committee. He is also a member of the
Admissions and History committees. Prior to coming to Campbell, he was a
research assistant and clerk for Chief Justice Henry E. Frye of the North
Carolina Supreme Court.
Woodlief’s published articles have appeared in the “North Carolina State Bar
Journal,” and he serves as a revising author for “North Carolina Law of Damages”
and “North Carolina Civil Practice and Procedure (with Appellate Advocacy).” In
addition, he was a guest commentator for WRAL television’s coverage of the
Michael Peterson murder trial. Woodlief is a member of the North Carolina State
Bar Publications Board, the Computer-Assisted Legal Instruction Editorial Board,
and the American and North Carolina bar associations.
