Popular Leader and Author to Deliver Staley
Lectures
Bart
Campolo, a dynamic Christian leader and the author of many books and articles,
will deliver Campbell University’s annual Staley Lecture Series, Tuesday, March
15, and Wednesday, March 16. The lectures are scheduled for 7 p.m. in Turner
Auditorium of the D. Rich Memorial Building. Admission is free and open to the
public.
Campolo is founder and chaplain of Mission Year, a national Christian service
program that recruits young adults for outreach teams that live and work in
inner-city neighborhoods. He is also the founder of Kingdomworks, an equipping
ministry, which gathers more than 1,200 inner city mission workers annually for
training and inspiration and is now part of Larry Acosta’s growing Urban Youth
Ministry Institute.
In addition, Campolo is a national representative of Compassion International, a
ministry that works as an advocate for children. Founded in 1952 by the Reverend
Everett Swanson as a shelter for Korean War orphans, Compassion International
currently serves more than 600,000 children in approximately 20 countries.
Campolo’s engaging style and passionate commitment to the Gospel have made him a
popular speaker at youth gatherings, college campuses, and conferences
throughout the United States and overseas. He is the author of many books and
articles, including “Kingdomworks: True Stories about God and his People in
Inner City America,” published by Servant Publications. He received a Bachelor
of Arts in religion from Brown University in Providence, RI.
Campbell University’s annual Staley Lecture Series was founded by Dr. Thomas F.
Staley in 1970 to promote the Gospel of Jesus Christ. By equipping students with
a better understanding of the Gospel, the series strives to enrich both the
quality and effectiveness of Christian service. The program continues to reach
the college community for Christ through gifted speakers.
