Greenwood Promoted to Full Professor at Campbell
Dr.
Robert Greenwood, of Campbell University’s School of Pharmacy, has been promoted
to full professor. Greenwood is the director of the Bachelor and Master of
Science in Pharmaceutical Sciences programs at Campbell and associate chairman
of the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences.
A graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Greenwood earned
a Bachelor of Science degree in pharmacy in 1971 and a Ph.D. in pharmaceutical
sciences in 1980. Prior to coming to Campbell in 1987, he was an assistant
professor of pharmacy at the University of Oklahoma’s College of Pharmacy and
served as a part-time staff pharmacist at the Veterans Administration Hospital
in Oklahoma City, OK.
Greenwood is a member of the Academy of Pharmaceutical Sciences and the American
Pharmacists Association, as well as other professional organizations. He has
been elected to leadership roles in the American Association of Colleges of
Pharmacy and currently serves as the chairman of the Basic Sciences Section of
the American Pharmacists Association. He was an American Foundation for
Pharmaceutical Education Fellow and was named Outstanding Professor by Kappa
Epsilon Professional Fraternity. In 1994 Greenwood received the Dean’s Teaching
Excellence Award from Campbell’s School of Pharmacy and is credited with the
development of a significant number of courses in the basic sciences curriculum
at Campbell.
Greenwood and colleague Dr. Antoine Al-Achi, have worked on the development of
an insulin delivery system that uses a carrier system to protect insulin from
being broken down by enzymes in the body. According to Greenwood, however, his
major accomplishments at Campbell include providing leadership and service to
the school and to the profession and, above all, trying to provide a quality
educational experience for students.
