Heaton Elected to Board of Ministers
The Rev. Joy L. Heaton, of Enfield, NC, was recently
elected to the Campbell University Board of Ministers. The Board of
Ministers is an advisory and participatory group that provides
insight and assistance in the fulfillment of the University's
mission to provide Christian higher education to worthy young men
and women.
Currently, Heaton serves as pastor of Antioch
Baptist Church in Enfield, NC. A native of Morgantown, WV, she
earned a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting at Amberton
University in Garland, TX, in 1987. Heaton completed a Master of
Divinity degree in pastoral ministries at Campbell in 2000.
Heaton serves as a commissioner for the Halifax
County Human Relations Commission and is a Faith Community
Representative for the Enfield Steering Committee. She is also a
nominating committee member for the North Carolina Baptist State
Convention and a board member of the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship
of North Carolina Endowment.
Heaton is married Thomas D. Heaton of Albertville, AL.
Founded in 1887, Campbell University is North Carolina's
second largest private institution of higher education and the second
largest Baptist university in the world. Located in Buies Creek, NC,
just east of the center of the state, Campbell combines academic
excellence and Christian commitment.
