Allen Elected to Board of Trustees
Lorraine Britt Allen, of LaGrange, NC, was recently
elected to the Campbell University Board of Trustees. A retired
teacher, Allen served on the faculty at Campbell University for
three years and spent 22 years as a member of the faculty at Parrott
Academy in Kinston, NC.
Active in civic affairs, Allen serves on the LaGrange
Redevelopment Board of Directors, an organization charged with revitalizing
the downtown area. She is also a member of the LaGrange Arts Council, the
LaGrange Garden Club, and the American Ex-Prisoners of War organization.
Allen’s husband, the late Robert Allen, was a prisoner of war in Frankfurt,
Germany, during World War II.
Allen graduated from Campbell University, where she received
an Associate of Arts degree in business in 1946. She went on to earn a
Bachelor of Science degree in business from Wake Forest University in 1950. In
1991, she was named a Distinguished Alumna of Campbell.
She is a member of Alpha Delta Kappa Honorary Teachers Society
and serves as a deacon in her church, First Baptist Church of LaGrange.
She has two daughters, Dr. Jo Allen and Kay Blizzard. She also
has one granddaughter.
