Durmire Elected to the Presidential Board of Advisors


Jerry Lee Durmire

Jerry Lee Durmire, of Hiddenite, NC, was recently elected to Campbell University's Presidential Board of Advisors. Durmire is a retired U.S. Postal worker and hydro plant operator. He currently serves as president of the EnergyUnited Water Corporation Board of Directors.

Active in community affairs, Durmire served as a volunteer fireman for 20 years and was named Alexander County Citizen of the Year in 2001. He is a member of Sulphur Springs Baptist Church, where he serves on the Deacon Committee and the Board of Trustees. Durmire has also served as church treasurer and member of several committees. A graduate of Hiddenite High School, Durmire worked for the U.S Postal Service as a rural mail carrier from 1973-2002. He also worked for Duke Power Company as a hydro plant operator from 1969-1996.

He is married to the former Glenda Kay Johnson of Hiddenite, NC. They are the parents of two children, both of whom are deceased.
