"Grace Like
Rain" Tour to Stop in Buies Creek
Campbell
University will host the "Grace Like Rain" tour on Wednesday, March 24,
at 8 p.m. in Saylor Park. The 20-plus-city tour features Todd Agnew,
Essential Records' act Silers Bald, and Fervent Records' new all-girl
rock band, BarlowGirl. Admission is free and doors will open at 7 p.m.
The recipient of
Worship Leader
magazine's "2003 Breakthrough Artist of the Year" honor, Todd Agnew
recently launched his "Grace Like Rain" tour, with stops all over
the United States. Agnew garnered four Dove
nominations from the Gospel Music Association this year, including
nods for "New Artist of the Year" and "Rock Contemporary Album of
the Year" for Grace Like Rain.
Agnew additionally claimed two nominations as songwriter and
performer in the "Rock Contemporary Recorded Song of the Year"
category for his first radio single, "This Fragile Breath."
Currently, Grace Like Rain's
title cut and second radio single
continues to climb the charts.
Already a touring entity,
Agnew recently attracted thousands of new fans on NewSong's highly successful
Winter Jam tour with Audio Adrenaline and Relient K. He also appeared on the
"More to Life" tour with NewSong and Kelly Minter last fall and the Summer Jam
Tour with Plus One and TAIT.
Joining Agnew for the "Grace
Like Rain" tour is Silers Bald. Self-proclaimed rootsy pop-rockers, Silers
Bald was formed in 1996 by three friends at the University of
South Carolina and comprises guitarists/vocalists Shane Williams and Warren Bazemore, drummer Jason Jacobs, and violinist Marcus Myers, who also plays the
hammer dulcimer. Its four independent recordings have achieved impressive
success, and Silers Bald has shared the stage with such established artists as
Caedmon's Call, Ginny Owens, Relient K, Nickel Creek, and Andrew Peterson.
Brought to the attention of Essential Records by Caedmon's Call frontman Cliff
Young, the group released its debut label project,
Real Life,
in September.
Newly signed Fervent Records'
group BarlowGirl comprises drummer Lauren, bassist/keyboardist Alyssa, and
guitarist Becca. The sisters, who grew up in the Chicago suburb
of Elgin, IL, formed the band four years ago and released their self-titled
debut on Fervent Records February 24. Produced by Otto Price (SONIC Flood, DC
Talk, Out of Eden), BarlowGirl's
first radio single, "Harder Than the First Time," is currently climbing the
Christian and Rock charts.
