President of Baptist World Alliance to Lead Lecture

Korean evangelist Dr. Billy Kim, president of the
Baptist World Alliance (BWA), will be the featured speaker at
Campbell University’s annual Staley Lecture Series, March 2-4 on the
Campbell campus. Kim will speak on Tuesday, March 2, at 11 a.m. in
Scott Concert Hall and at 7 p.m. in Ellis Theatre of the Rogers Fine
Arts Center; Wednesday, March 3, at 7 p.m. in Ellis Theatre; and on
Thursday, March 4, at 11 a.m. in Scott Concert Hall. The lectures
are free and open to the public.
A fellowship of 211 Baptist unions and conventions that cover
over 47 million baptized believers, the BWA represents over 200 countries.
Kim, who is the senior pastor of the 15,000-member Central Baptist Church in
Suwon, Korea presides over the Baptist Council and the Executive Committee. He
works to strengthen the programs of the BWA through messages and visits to
Baptists around the world.
As the world leader of Baptists, Dr. Kim also acts as a
goodwill ambassador to world leaders and supports them in the areas of human
rights and religious freedom. Kim also serves as director of Christian
Service, Inc. in Korea and as director of the Far East Broadcasting Company, a
network of Christian radio stations.
Kim, who earned international acclaim when he served as
interpreter for the Billy Graham revival series in South Korea in 1973,
experienced the cruel occupation of his homeland by the Japanese and its
destruction by the Communists. As a young boy, he witnessed many of the fierce
battles of the Korean conflict. He has conducted evangelistic campaigns in
Indonesia, India, Hong Kong, Nepal, South Vietnam, Thailand, and the United
States, among other countries.
Founded in 1887, Campbell University is North Carolina’s
second largest private institution of higher education and the second largest
Baptist university in the world. Located in Buies Creek, NC, just east of the
center of the state, Campbell combines academic excellence and Christian
commitment.
