Wood elected to Campbell University Board of Trustees
Luby Wood, of Raleigh, N.C., has been elected to the
Campbell University Board of Trustees. A retired businessman, Wood was president
and co-owner of seven Super Clean Car Wash operations in Gaston and Cleveland
counties and a veteran of 30 years with Lowe’s Home Improvement. Wood retired
from Lowe’s in 1988.
An advocate for Christian higher education, Wood and
his wife Catherine established a Divinity School scholarship in 1999. He has
served previous terms on Campbell boards and was a member of the Executive and
Investments Committee of the Board of Trustees.
He is active in his church, Trinity Baptist of Raleigh,
N.C., where he serves on the Foundation Fund and Finance committees. Wood’s
Christian stewardship built the Banner Chapel Advent Christian Ministries Center
in Benson, dedicated to his mother Hettie Belle Adams Wood.
For his contributions to Campbell University and to his
community, Wood received the Presidential Medallion in 1999, given to those
individuals whose lives exemplify Christian character and commitment.
The Woods are the parents of two children, Wendy Wood,
of Benson, N.C.; and Reid Wood, of Huntersville, N.C. They have two
grandchildren.
