Charlotte Smith elected to Campbell University Board of Trustees

      Charlotte Cook Smith, of Lexington, N.C., has been elected to the Campbell University Board of Trustees. Smith is a retired legal assistant, corporate secretary and private business management consultant. She was first appointed to the Board of Trustees in 1998 to fill the unexpired term of Lucille Ellis.
     An active member of her church, Jersey Baptist in Lexington, Smith has also held several positions in the Baptist State Convention of North Carolina (BSCNC), including serving on the General Board, Executive Committee, Business Management Committee (chair) and Search Committee (Executive Director/Treasurer). Other BSCNC assignments include serving two one-year terms on the Committee on Committees and a two-year term on the Budget Committee.
     In addition, Smith has been active in associational work, serving as director of the Woman’s Missionary Union and on the Charter and By-Laws Committee Association team during a director of Missions search.
     She has headed up numerous other committees and has been active in leadership training. Smith has also served on the board of directors of Lexington Memorial Hospital and Piedmont Home Care.
     Founded in 1887, Campbell University is a private, coeducational institution of liberal arts, sciences and professions offering undergraduate, graduate and doctoral degrees. The university is comprised of the College of Arts and Sciences, the Norman Adrian Wiggins School of Law, the Lundy-Fetterman School of Business, the School of Education, the School of Pharmacy and the Divinity School.
