Campbell University Choral Society to present Christmas concert
The Campbell University Choral Society will present a
Christmas concert Sunday, Dec. 3, at 4 p.m. in Scott Concert Hall of the Rogers
Fine Arts Center. Admission is free and open to the public.
Featuring works by composers John Rutter and Gustav
Holst, the program is a panorama of music for the season. Rutter’s “Gloria” is a
resounding three-movement work for choir, brass, organ and percussion and
Holst’s “Christmas Day” is a fantasia of carols and anthems.
Special music is performed by a solo-quartet featuring
Susan Morrow of Angier, Teresa Aiken of Erwin, Burke Dickens of Fuquay-Varina,
and Greg Honeycutt of Benson.
“I am delighted for the Choral Society to present this
beautiful and exciting music on the first Sunday in Advent 2006,” said Dr.
Phillip J. Morrow, conductor. “We have a dedicated and talented group and the
opportunity to share a Christmas program of well-crafted music is always
exciting and special. We extend a warm invitation to all.”
Morrow added that the audience will also be in for a
treat as they get the chance to sing along with the performers.
The Campbell University Choral Society is comprised of
students, faculty and members of the community.
