Student pharmacy organization named Chapter of the Year
The Campbell University chapter of the International
Society for Pharmaceutical Engineering (ISPE) has been named “Student Chapter of
the Year.” The international award was presented to the Campbell chapter at the
ISPE’s annual meeting in Orlando, Fla., on Nov. 7.
Dr. Daniel Shin, associate professor of Pharmaceutical
Sciences and faculty advisor to the chapter, acknowledged those who had worked
hard to build and support the chapter. “I would like to first commend the
student members and the officers for their dedication to the success of our
chapter,” Shin said. “I would also like to express the chapter’s gratitude to
the local ISPE members and to ISPE headquarters for their outstanding support of
our chapter.”
Shin also thanked the Campbell administration, faculty
and staff of the department of Pharmaceutical Sciences.
ISPE student chapters provide students with career
opportunities and interaction with potential employers. The student organization
is designed to assist students in developing career paths and provide
interaction with industry professionals.
There are over 50 members in the Campbell ISPE chapter.
In addition to monthly meetings featuring industry and academic speakers, the
chapter participates in community service projects such as Toys for Tots and
sponsors informative workshops career fairs and networking opportunities.
