Farmer named chair of Mass Communications Department
Dr. J. Dean Farmer was named Chairman of the Department
of Mass Communication at Campbell University.
“I look forward to working with my colleagues to build
on the successful tenure of Michael Smith,” says Farmer. “I hope to continue to
help the department grow and provide excellent and ever-expanding opportunities
to our students.”
Dr. Farmer received his Ph.D. in organizational
communication from Ohio University in Athens. He earned his Master of Arts in
Public Administration from North Carolina State University in Raleigh and a
Bachelor of Arts in Speech Communication from Ohio University.
Prior to coming to Campbell, Farmer taught at North
Carolina State University and Union University in Jackson, Tenn. He has also
taught at Meredith College in Raleigh. Farmer has been a part of Campbell’s
faculty as assistant professor of Mass Communications since 2002. Farmer is a
member of the International Communication Association and the Public Relations
Society of America. He is also a member of the United States Jaycees.
Farmer currently resides in Raleigh with his wife,
Kimberly.
