“Wunnerful, Wunnerful!” Campbell welcomes Lawrence Welk All-Stars
Back by popular demand,
Lawrence Welk All-Stars Ava Barber and Bob Havens will perform at Campbell
University’s Turner Auditorium, Thursday, Nov. 2, at 8 p.m. The duo will be
joined by Campbell’s own Moore Square Dixielanders, featuring Dr. Ran Whitley,
chair of Campbell’s Fine Arts Division.
From jazz to country—the evening promises something for
everyone. Tickets will be sold at the door or reservations may be made by

scottconcerthall@campbell.edu. Ticket prices are $5 for children and $15 for
adults. Students, faculty and staff are admitted free.
Country songstress Ava Barber joined the Lawrence Welk
Show in 1974, at the same time pursuing a successful recording career. Her hit
song, “Bucket To The South,” went all the way to #13 on the “Billboard” charts,
and she has appeared on prime time music shows such as “Nashville Now,” “Music
City Tonight,” and “The Grand Ole Opry.”
Veteran musician Bob Havens,joined the Welk Show in
1960 after playing with Al Hirt and Jack Girard in New Orleans. A seasoned
performer and jazz great, Havens weaves his performance with humorous memories
and colorful anecdotes about the renowned bandleader Welk.
