Greenawalt named Distinguished Campbell History Alumnus
Jason Greenawalt, of Alexandria, Va., was named a Distinguished History Alumnus
of Campbell University’s Department of Government, History and Justice during
Homecoming events on Oct. 21. Greenawalt joined the staff of the Deputy Chief of
Naval Operations for Fleet Readiness and Logistics in 2006.
Prior to entering federal service, he was chief
operating officer for H. Greenawalt and Associates, a small institutional food
service start-up company that eventually grew to $2.5 million in revenues before
being liquidated in 2005.
Greenawalt received a Bachelor of Arts in history and
education from Campbell University in 2003 and was presented the History Student
of the Year award for 2002-2003. He is currently a candidate for a Master of
Public Policy degree at George Washington University. While he was at Campbell,
Greenawalt was named to the president’s list for academic excellence and was a
member of the wrestling team.
Greenawalt’s professional career with the Navy began in 2003
as an intern in the Centralized Financial Management Training program, a
structured program designed to provide training in all aspects of Navy financial
management and budgeting. As a member of the program Greenawalt played a key
role in the command’s Workplace Shaping initiative, leading an effort to
transform the office organizational structure and create a workforce that would
be better able to respond to program requirements while reducing operating
costs.
