English publishes pocket guide to history of theology
Dr. Adam English, assistant professor of theology and
philosophy at Campbell University, has co-authored a book, “Pocket History of
Theology,” with Roger Olson, author of “The Story of Christian Theology.”
Printed by InterVarsity Press, the book is a concise
guide to the history of Christian theology, surveying the events, teachings and
challenges that have shaped how Christians understand their faith. The book,
which is crafted for students, pastors and other busy people, provides a quick
overview of major figures and movements. It serves as a starting point for
further explorations in theology.
English graduated from Hardin-Simmons University in
Abilene, Texas, and received a master’s degree in theology and pastoral ministry
from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth. He earned his
Ph.D. in Systematic Theology from Baylor University in Waco.
Prior to coming to Campbell in 2003, English served as
an adjunct professor at Baylor University. He has edited and reviewed various
books and articles and has presented papers in the U.S., England and Canada.
English is a member of the American Academy of Religion, the Nineteenth Century
Theology Working Group, and the National Association of Baptist Professors.
Active in the community, English preaches at various local
churches, serves as faculty advisor for student-led Uncovered Bible Study and is
a Royal Ambassador leader at Memorial Baptist Church in Buies Creek, N.C.
