Alumni return as Campbell commencement speakers

Alumni LeAnne Davidson Kennedy and Corey D. Furman will be the commencement speakers at Campbell University’s winter graduation exercises, Saturday, Dec. 17, at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. in Turner Auditorium. Kennedy will speak at 10 a.m. and Furman will speak at 2 p.m. Kennedy and Furman are both graduates of the Campbell University School of Pharmacy and successful professionals.
The Pharmaceutical Care Coordinator for Hematology and Oncology for in- patients at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center, Kennedy received a Doctor of Pharmacy degree from Campbell in 1993. She has lectured and presented papers throughout the United States and was named one of the Most Influential Pharmacists in America by the “American Druggist” in 1999. Kennedy also received the Award of Excellence from the Hematology and Oncology Pharmacy Association in 2005.
Corey Furman is pharmacist-manager of Boone Drugs Inc., an independent chain of 12 retail pharmacies in North Carolina and Tennessee headquartered in Boone, N.C. In addition to dispensing medications, Boone Drugs pharmacies are in the tradition of Campbell University’s community pharmacist ethic in which the pharmacist not only fills prescriptions but monitors health care issues. Boone Drugs provides numerous health care services including oxygen, immunization, cholesterol and health screening. Furman received a Doctor of Pharmacy degree from Campbell in 1995.
“The School of Pharmacy has enjoyed many successes in the first 20 years of existence at Campbell University,” said Dr. W. Mark Moore, assistant dean of Student Affairs and Admissions for the School of Pharmacy. “I am honored that Dr. LeAnne Kennedy and Dr. Corey Furman have returned to ‘the Creek’ to celebrate in these commencement exercises. They are model Campbell pharmacists being excellent clinicians and dispensers of health care in addition to being Christian servants.”
Approximately 500 degrees are expected to be conferred at Campbell’s commencement exercises.
