Law School congratulates Moot Court teams
Campbell University
congratulates the National Moot Court Teams on their inspired performances at
the National Moot Court Regional Competition, held November 18 and 19 in
Richmond, Va. The Campbell teams, consisting of Allegra Cazzari, Anne Coley,
Aulica Rutland, Thomas Stroud, Kirsten Todd and April Williams, advanced to the
semi-final round. Both teams were undefeated in the preliminary rounds,
defeating teams from William & Mary, the University of Virginia, the University
of West Virginia and the University of Louisville. Only Campbell and Duke placed
two teams in the quarter finals, while Campbell’s “A” team easily beat one of
the Duke teams in the Semis and the “B” team bested a feisty University of
Virginia team. Unfortunately, the “A” team lost as a result of Duke’s brief,
which won the Best Brief Award in the competition, while the “B” Team had a good
run with Wake Forest yet lost in a close semi-final match.
“Campbell’s teams performed brilliantly. To place both
teams in the semi-finals was a real accomplishment,” said Professor Richard
Lord. “We congratulate and thank all six competitors for their hard work and
dedication.”
The National Moot Court Competition is the oldest and
most prestigious moot court competition in the country, attracting teams from
some 170 schools nationwide. Lord and Assistant Professor Bryan Boyd are
advisors to the team.
