Campbell presents Handel’s “Messiah”
On Monday, Nov. 28,
Campbell University will present a performance of Handel’s timeless oratorio,
“The Messiah,” at 8p.m. in Turner Auditorium of the D. Rich Building. Admission
is free and open to the public.
The performance will feature both the University Choral
Society and the University Choir and will include soloists and an orchestra.
Featured soloists include music faculty vocal teachers, Dr. Sally Thomas, Susan
Morrow, and Greg Honeycutt, as well as student soloists Megan Truelove, Nancy Jo
Ezzell, Holly Taylor, Kayl Whitaker and Clayton Lee.
The focus of the program will be Part I of Handel’s
great work, which focuses primarily on the prophecy and birth of Jesus. The
notorious “Hallelujah Chorus” will close the Part I presentation.
“I can’t think of a better way to start your Advent
season and Christmas celebrations,” says Choral Director Dr. Phillip Morrow.
“The singers are working hard to make this a special concert. Campbell looks
forward to launching the Christmas season with this rendition of Handel’s
‘Messiah.’”
